The N E S T Accredited Course in Postnatal Care / non-medical Maternity Nursing

Happy Home Staff are happy to host the N E S T Accredited Maternity Nursing course available for candidates who match a certain criteria. The N E S T Maternity Nursing course is given by highly trained and accredited instructors after the course you will be given 6 weeks to produce coursework. On successful completion of this course you could achieve 12 credits at Level III (equivalent to NVQ Level 3 ‘A’ Level) and can offer the opportunity to join N E S T work experience scheme. Course Information

·         6-weeks to produce coursework (no exams)

·         All N E S T training courses are presented by accredited professionals

·         Courses and lectures regularly include expert guest speakers

·         Courses are available through our London training centre or at other venues by arrangement with external bodies or organisations

·         Certificates & Diplomas will only be awarded on successful completion of all course work

·         All assignments are submitted to three Assessors – course tutor, internal verifier and external moderator; late work will be subject to an automatic fail unless a request is submitted for discussion by a panel. The decisions of the panel are final and no further correspondence will be entered into once agreement has been reached and the student notified.

 

Course Content

The ‘Whole Role’ Of The Postnatal Carer(PNC) / non-medical Maternity Nurse; expectations; care of the newborn - first days; the latest research; breast feeding & formula feeding; PND; hygiene; sleep; routine; keeping records; sickness: colic & reflux, SIDS; the role of the midwife, Health Visitor & G.P.; care of the ‘new’ mum’: health & diet; communication; support; recognising Postnatal Depression; special areas of care; building a portfolio; the law, CPA; assignments; work experience register; agencies

Course Times

  • Saturday 9.30 am to 5.30 pm; including lunch & light refreshments
  • Sunday 10 am to 4 pm; lunch & refreshments provided

Cost

£460 (£60 deposit required to secure a place on course)

 

Candidate Criteria

To be able to do this course you must have proven experience working sole charge with newborn babies in a home (domestic) environment.
